From Scan to Ceremony: How Jesse Ssengonzi Tailored His 2024 Olympics Uniform with TrueToForm

As the world was gearing up for the highly anticipated Paris Olympics 2024, athletes were leveraging the latest technology to prepare for the opening ceremony. Among these innovations is the use of 3D body scanning to capture accurate body measurements for Olympic athletes. The unique body shape of each athlete impacts how garments fit and move, which is crucial for the Paris Olympics, a global competition stage. True to Form measures athletes’ bodies remotely with its AI-powered body scan app, creating a digital avatar—a virtual representation that precisely mirrors an individual's measurements and proportions. This technology allows for accurate fitting and pattern creation without the need for physical presence.

Meet Jesse Ssengonzi

In the fast-paced world of athletic events, manufacturers and sports teams must quickly customize and produce tailored Olympic uniforms for athletes. With this in mind, Jesse Ssengonzi, a talented 21-year-old swimmer representing Uganda, thought of using the True to Form app to send his measurements to the Uganda Sports team. Recently, Ssengonzi broke his own national record in the men’s 100m butterfly, clocking 54.48 seconds. Before the Olympics, he completed his senior year at the University of Chicago, where he earned a degree in economics. Selected for the Olympic team in late June following his tryouts, Ssengonzi prepared for his upcoming trip to Paris with great anticipation.

Preparing for the Olympics Opening Ceremony

One of the most eagerly awaited moments worldwide is the opening ceremony, where Ssengonzi proudly donned his Olympic uniform. At the beginning of July, he decided to use True to Form to take his measurements to ensure a perfect fit for this momentous occasion.

“I need my measurements for my Olympic kit fitting for Paris, and I immediately thought of True to Form,” quoted Jesse, conveying his excitement.

Jesse downloaded the True to Form app and used his smartphone to take a scan to capture his body measurements. Once the scan was taken, he was able to easily share a list of over 60 measurements with the Ugandan Sports team, along with a 3D visual of his body shape represented by his avatar.

Jesse was delighted with the results, noting how the convenience and accuracy of the process made his Olympic preparations much easier. “You literally saved me hours of hassle trying to find someone who would fit me accurately without buying anything,” he remarked. The precision of the measurements ensured that his clothes fit perfectly, eliminating the need for time-consuming alterations or multiple fittings. This seamless experience highlighted the app's value in delivering a perfect fit right from the start.

Jesse explains, "It's quite common for national team athletes to train across the globe, but finding a place to get accurate measurements without having to make a purchase can be surprisingly frustrating."

“The boat was so fun, even though it was raining. The measurements came in clutch.”
